These videos are of a Viking farm located on the island of Alvaldenes near Haugesund, Norway. It is a replica of an actual one excavated in Norway. Also on this island are St. Olaf’s Church with the Virgin Mary’s Sewing Needle and an excavation site where archaeologists have unearthed a palace which they think is on top of still an older one. They believe these palaces belonged to the earliest kings of Norway. Harold Fairhair is one of the early kings who united Norway into one country. Rollon’s family was not from this royal line. His father, Rognwald, was Count of Maere. Haugesund and Norway in general celebrate Harold but don’t seem to be much concerned with Rollon.
Haugesund holds a film festival and a jazz festival each year, and a statue of Marilyn Monroe is in front of one of the hotels. Marilyn’s father was from Haugesund. There are also some mines in the area.
